The Board of Selectmen tabled a decision to allocate funds to pay for the demolition of the Old Tokeneke Bridge until alternative options are researched.Lenny Moitoso, a seventh grade geography teacher at Roger Ludlowe Middle School, was recognized by the Board of Selectmen Tuesday afternoon for being selected to represent the Boston Red Sox for MLB and People magazine’s “All Stars Among Us” campaign. Next to Moitoso is fellow geography teacher Richard Haxhi. Next to Moitoso is his fiancée, Amanda Ryan.Gloria Heath, 87, recently received her Congressional Gold Medal, which had been presented earlier this year in Washington to those remaining of 1,102 WASPs (Women’s Airforce Service Pilots), who during WWII were flying the fastest fighters and heaviest bombers and performing the same non-combat duties as the men, freeing up men for combat service. The group was disbanded at the end of 1944. (“The attrition rate of the men pilots was lower than anticipated,” said Heath.) Heath, who is listed in the Women in Aviation International Hall of Fame, was honore on May 11 at Town Hall by the Board of Selectmen and U.S Congressman Jim Himes, who presented her with her medal.Here, Town Clerk Betsy Browne swears Walsh in to the Board of Selectmen.Jim Walsh, R-1, was sworn in to the Board of Selectmen on Wednesday afternoon, hours after he resigned as speaker of the Representative Town Meeting.William Sapone, Fairfield Woods Middle School Buildling Committee chairman, spoke at Wednesday's Board of Selectmen meeting.
