The Fairfield Warde High girls basketball team held cross-town rival Fairfield Ludlowe scoreless in the third quarter of the Todd Burger Holiday Tournament on Wednesday night, and breezed to a 47-22 win to claim the tourney championship.

Junior Brielle Lanese led the Mustangs with 15 points.

Junior Kate Kerrigan, named to the all-tournament team, scored eight points for Warde, as did tournament MVP Taylor Bargmann.

Ludlowe was led offensively by sophomore Jamie Quinn, who scored nine points, and junior Briana Curran, who scored seven. Both girls were named to the all-tournament team.

It was the third time that Warde has won the Todd Burger Holiday Tournament in its four-year history. Burger, who died in 2006, was a longtime sports editor of the Fairfield Citizen.
