'Twas a season to remember in high school hockey.

Fairfield Prep won its 16th state championship while Newtown High School captured the first one in the history of the program. Both schools won their respective titles in dramatic fashion, winning overtime thrillers.

Darien was the best team in the state for much of the season, but came up empty in their bids for both the FCIAC and CIAC titles. They were at times, remarkably brilliant, led by their ziploc goalie, Mike Colon.

The Blue Wave beat Fairfield twice during the season, but like many teams often find out, it's so difficult to win three straight games against the same opponent.

New Canaan caught fire and won the FCIAC title but fizzled once again in their effort to end its state championship drought.

The season was filled with high-drama, heart-pumping, and spine-tingling moments. We hope you enjoyed it as much as the athletes playing the games and the photographers who captured a season's worth of emotions and great performances through the lenses of their cameras

We present the 100 best photos of the high school hockey season.
