Subway will open its sixth outlet in Fairfield on the Post Road.

The Town Plan and Zoning Commission recently approved a compliance application for the sandwich chain to open a new shop at 691 Post Road, a space once occupied by a tae kwan do studio.

The Subway outlet will be located in a small shopping center that also is home to Penfield Auto Service, Sherwin Williams and photographer David Bravo.

"It will primarily be a take-out restaurant," Assistant Planning Director James Wendt said. "It's simply a change in use."

Commissioner Richard Jacobs said he thinks parking might be tight on the property, but conceded that the application met all the zoning regulations.
