There's a new business in the neighborhood.

Tomato & Basil Pizzeria and Cafe is opening its doors today at 1876 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield.

According to the restaurant's website, "We formed Tomato & Basil with a simple idea in mind: to create a place with a fun and casual atmosphere where people can come for amazing Italian food. It is our goal to create a place that has the ability to cater to a wide variety of customers -- couples enjoying a first date, families looking for a full and filling meal, happy hour specials savored by co-workers, or pizza and pitchers shared by friends."

In addition to Neopolitan-style pizza and a savory selection of sandwiches and entrees, the restaurant will offer tap beers and more than 30 different wines.

Tomato & Basil is located at 1876 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield (the former Miro's farm stand). For more information, visit www.tomatoandbasilct.com.
