BASEBALL SUMMER CAMPS

The Brunswick Baseball Camp was established to help develop and improve baseball skills for boys 6-12. The emphasis is on skill development, practice and competition. The Bridgeport Bluefish will be holding summer baseball camps at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard with some of their players and coaches as instructors for all children between the ages of five and 13. The Little League Baseball Camp at A. Bartlett Giamatti Center in Bristol, Conn. will hold five one-week sessions this summer for children between ages 10-12. The Connecticut Force Boys Basketball Club will be hosting its 13th Annual Spring Boys Basketball Tournament on April 9-11, 2010 at the new Coventry High School in Coventry, CT. Tournament is open to the first teams to register in six age/grade divisions: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. Cost is $350 per team per tournament with a 3 game guarantee in pool play. BASKETBALL BENEFIT GAME

The annual Stamford High School students vs. faculty basketball game is set for Thursday April 8 at 7 p.m. at SHS' Kuczo Gymnasium. There will be a free throw shooting contest at halftime. Admission is a $1 donation at the door.

The MVP Sports Camp for Girls Basketball returns to Trinity Catholic High School for the Summer of 2010. Trinity Catholic girls basketball coach Tom Kriz will be in charge of the following camps. Veez Hoops Basketball camp will be at Stamford High School for both boys and girls entering grades 2-12 from July 6-August 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day. It is a great opportunity for players who want to improve on their game. Veez Hoops Camp is committed to providing top-quality professional instruction that emphasizes individual attention and maximum participation. The Greenwich Junior Football League non-contact football camp will take place at Greenwich High School this July. Session 1, for grades 9-12 only, will take place from July 19-23. The Sterling Farms Women's Golf League is seeking new members for its 2010 season. Members can either join the 9-hole or 18-hole group. Hubbard Heights Men's Golf Club is signing up members before the 2010 season starts on April 9. HHMC is also a member of the New England Public Golf Association with 14 clubs from Rhode Island and Connecticut. All clubs compete in four events each year at the Host members club. Regular Membership $85 (can play all events from April - October). Senior Membership (age 62 and older; $65, can play all events from April - October). Handicap Only ($55, we will provide a USGA Handicap and you're entitled to play in five Special events (Opening Event, Member / Member, Member / Guest, Memorial and Closing Event)). FIELD HOCKEY SUMMER CAMPS

Greenwich Academy is again hosting the Williams College Field Hockey Camp.The head coach is Williams' Alix Barrele. It's open to girls age 8 and older. Campers are grouped by ability and challenged on a daily basis. Sessions will be divided into skill development, individual play, game like drills and concepts of team play. Seventh Annual NYPPEX Greenwich Invitational Regatta, featuring Greenwich Crew, is set for Sat. SOCCER SUMMER CAMPS

The High School Soccer Camp for boys and girls runs from Aug 23-27 2010 from 4-7 PM and will be held at All Saints School in Norwalk. SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER

Sacred Heart University will be the host for a Dinner & Raffle Fundraiser to be held on Saturday April 3, 2010. The Browning Memorial Scholarship was established to encourage and assist deserving, well-qualified students in memory of Scott Browning. The scholarship provides financial assistance to hardship students at Sacred Heart University. The fund has helped students graduate who otherwise would not have and has helped students pursue a college education who thought they would never be able to. This year's fundraiser is a "March Madness" Dinner & Raffle slated for the evening of the Men's Final Four games which are scheduled to be played on April 3. The event will be held at the Pitt Center at Sacred Heart University on Park Avenue in Fairfield,. The entry deadline for the 2010 US Open Eastern Sectional Qualifying Tournament is Monday, April 5. The Tournament is at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., the home of the US Open, from April 18-26. The men's and women's winners advance to the US Open National Playoffs -- Men's and Women's Championships for a chance to earn a wild card into the 2010 US Open Qualifying Tourney, August 24-27, in Flushing. All players age 14 and older of all playing levels are eligible. The entry list includes top-ranked juniors, college players, senior players (age 60 and over), tennis club teaching pros, former touring pros, weekend warriors and rec players. Entry info can be found at USOpen.org. The entry fee for each of the sectional qualifying tournaments is $125.

All players competing must have a current USTA membership valid through August 30, 2010.

The Fairfield Indoor Tennis Club, 15 Old Dam Road, has openings in its Winter programs. Junior activities include: Quick Start Tennis for ages 4-10, Junior Clinic ages 7-17; Satellite, Challenger and Intensive Training Programs for all competitive levels ages 7-17. WRESTLING HALL OF FAME DINNER

The Connecticut Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame will hold an induction dinner on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Foxwoods Resort Casino to honor these men for their contribution to the sport of wrestling and our communities. The six men to be honored are: James Cunningham, former coach and athletic director at Holy Cross. Jim Day, former coach and current athletic director at Berlin High. Retired Lieutenant Col. Gralyn Harris, a former wrestler, current coach and graduate of Holy Cross. Walter "Buster" Jadach, current coach at Derby High. Ray Mainville, former coach at Maloney High and current official. Michael Morris, former coach at Danbury High and current official. Cunningham, Day, Mainville, Morris and Jadach will receive a Lifetime Achievement award for coaches, officials, media or contributors with at least 20 years of service. Harris is being honored as an Outstanding American, an award for former wrestlers who have received state or national acclaim in their chosen profession. Each award recipient will be permanently recognized in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (Stillwater, Oklahoma) with an embossed name plaque, and each receives a plaque and jacket to commemorate the very special occasion. These six will join 23 other inductees from Connecticut in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
