AmericanTowns.com, a Fairfield-based website that posts events calendars for American communities, recently launched GreenTowns.com, an online network that connects green initiatives.

The site, which maps the initiatives by community and by category, lists more than 10,000 groups and resources across a range of environmental issues. To initiate the network, the GreenTowns.com team reached out to sustainability leaders and environmental advocates. GreenTowns.com is also working with media partners such as Reader's Digest, BobVila.com, and E -- The Environmental Magazine.

GreenTowns.com is directed by Daphne Dixon, a Fairfield resident and executive director of Conscious Decisions, an online magazine that advocates green initiatives.

AmericanTowns.com was co-founded in 2000 by Mike Kelly, a former Westport resident and president of the Weather Channel in Atlanta, Theodore Buerger of Ossining, N.Y., and Edward Panian of Norwalk.
