November is National Prematurity Awareness Month and a nationally recognized band and a Darien-based nonprofit have joined together to spread the word.
Laughing Pizza will perform a benefit concert on Nov. 7, at 2 p.m., at The Quick Center for Performing Arts in Fairfield.
Laughing Pizza is a nationally acclaimed family band who's energetic, educational and interactive dance-filled shows have created a loyal following across the country. A six-time Parent's Choice Award winner, Laughing Pizza has performed three consecutive years at the White House (most recently with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers), has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, CBS and Fox Morning shows, and appears regularly on PBS stations nationwide. This month you can also hear them at several large family events in New York City.
Laughing Pizza's Billy Schlosser and his wife Lisa Michaelis are especially proud to come to our community and perform with their daughter, Emily, to benefit The Tiny Miracles Foundation. The mission The Tiny Miracles Foundation is close to their hearts because their daughter, Emily, was born eight weeks premature and was hospitalized for many months with complications due to her prematurity.
Founded in 2004, The Tiny Miracles Foundation helps families experiencing the emotional and financial trauma of premature birth. The Schlosser family would have greatly appreciated the services of The Tiny Miracles Foundation at the time of their long ordeal, and hopes that this concert will be both entertaining and raise much needed funds to support The Tiny Miracles Foundation's ongoing family support programs.
Sponsors of the Laughing Pizza benefit concert include: Audi of Fairfield, David M. Osherow, D.D.S., Sweet Rexie's, Gopher Ice Cream, Pediatric Healthcare Associates, People's United Bank, Withers Bergman LLP, Donald D.
