A modern holiday classic, “Elf,” is getting a special screening at the Prospector Theater.
Released in 2003, the film has already earned a spot on the short list of Christmas perennials that includes “Miracle on 34th Street,” “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “A Christmas Story.”
Will Ferrell stars as the overgown elf, Buddy, who sets off to find his father and has a series of amusing adventures in New York City after he leaves the North Pole.
The screening is a fundraiser for the non-profit theater dedicated to providing meaningful employment for adults with disabilities.
During the past decade, “Elf” was transformed into a well-received Broadway musical, which is produced all over the country each year. A major revival is playing at Madison Square Garden in New York City through Dec. 29.
Prospector Theater, 25 Prospect St., Ridgefield. Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. $8. 203-438-0136
