HONORING NEWTOWN -- To honor victims of the tragedy in Sandy Hook, the Notre Dame-Fairfield boys and girls hockey teams will wear black ribbon stickers on their helmets. Also, the boys and girls basketball teams will wear black wristbands with "SHES 2012" on them. In addition, Notre Dame will be accepting donations for Sandy Hook victims at all home hockey and basketball games this week. In boys basketball, Notre Dame plays Kolbe Cathedral Wednesday at 7 at Sacred Heart and hosts University School of Hartford on Friday at 8; in girls basketball, ND-Fairfield hosts Barlow on Friday at 6; in boys hockey, Notre Dame plays rival Fairfield Prep on Thursday at 6 at the Milford Ice Pavilion; and in girls hockey, Notre Dame plays Hamden Wednesday at 8 at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
HOCKEY DOUBLEHEADER AT ARENA: The 2nd annual New Year's Eve High School Faceoff hockey doubleheader will be played on Dec. 31 at the Webster Bank Arena. The noon game will be between St. Joseph and ND-Fairfield while Trumbull will play Branford in the second game, starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for both games and can be purchased at the arena's Click It or Ticket Box Office. Pre-sale tickets will also be available at the respective schools for $10.
