The Mill River Wetland Committee invites the public to attend its 44th annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Fairfield Museum and History Center.

T.J. McKenna, scientist at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford, is the keynote speaker and will address "Don't BUG ME about Water Quality."

All other agenda items will focus on business related to River-Lab operations including a treasurer's report, the election of board members and an update on the Garden Expo, MRWC's largest fundraiser.

As the facilitator of the River-Lab program, MRWC offers a hands-on environmental science program that educates children in grades three to six about river basin systems. The classroom training that contributes roughly one-third of the science curriculum in Fairfield schools is enhanced by study trips to the Mill River and town estuaries. MRWC provides classroom materials and activities for students, training for study trip guides and professional development for teachers. Each year, more than 160 volunteers guide more than 3,500 children through more than 650 study trips.

Admission to the meeting is free. For information, call 203-259-1847.
