Looking forward to the weekend?
It's not just any weekend, it's "Husky Weekend," as proclaimed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
"Husky Weekend" starts Friday and continues through Sunday in honor of both the UConn men's and women's basketball teams playing in the NCAA Final Four tournament.
And, Malloy says he'll extend the "Husky Weekend" through Tuesday if either team makes it to the championship. No, that doesn't mean you -- or state workers -- will get extra days off.
While not an executive order, Malloy asked that "all citizens show your Husky pride and wish our teams well by wearing your favorite UConn Huskies gear, flying the UConn flag outside your home, displaying a sign in your windows or front yard and wearing blue and white."
He said, "UConn again is the only school in the nation to have both our men's and women's basketball teams reach the NCAA Final Four, and for that we are incredibly proud," Malloy said. "This weekend, I urge Connecticut residents to put on your blue and white and show the nation how excited we are for our hometown teams."
The UConn men play the Florida Gators on Saturday evening, and the UConn women play the Stanford Cardinal on Sunday evening.
