Kennedy placed a rose on each of the 26 trees for each person who died after gunman Adam Lanza opened fire killing 26 individuals, 20 whom were children, last Friday. "I have to do this before I'm dedicated to ridding our society of guns," Kennedy said. "I'm going to do whatever I can to ban assault weapons and multiple clips. An American flag hung by Kevin Yacko and his son, Thomas, flies at the "Exit 10 Chapel" in honor of the 26 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The two set up a makeshift memorial in an otherwise unremarkable vacant lot after the shooting took place. âÄúWeâÄôve flown this flag in happier times, and weâÄôre very close to what happened in Sandy Hook,âÄù Kevin said. âÄúSo we set up the truck and the flag and within one hour, someone brought a small blue tent. Then candles came, teddy bears, flowers, a piece of carpet, a board to sign.âÄù
