14-year-old charged with assault during basketball game

A 14-year-old Fairfield teen has been charged with third-degree assault for punching another 14-year-old in the face during a basketball game Wednesday at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club on Center Street.

The victim said he was "randomly punched" during the game. According to the police report, there had been some "trash talking" between the two earlier at school.

The juvenile, whose name was not released because of his age, was released on a promise to appear May 30 in Juvenile Court.
