6 a.m. power outage update: Only two outages left

Only two.

Those are the only remaining power outages reported early Friday in Fairfield after nearly two weeks during which the vast majority had electric service interrupted for days.

That status as of 6 a.m. Friday comes in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, which blacked out nearly all of the United Illuminated customers in town last week, as well as the scattered outages that erupted during the snowy nor'easter overnight Wednesday and Thursday.

The two outages comprise 0.01 percent of the 21,876 total customers in town, according to UI figures.

In Southport, which UI includes in a separate report, no outages are reported among the utility's 1,858 customers.
