Horns tooting, sirens wailing and shouts of delight from kids.

Those were the sounds of fun -- very loud fun -- during the annual Touch-a-Truck event sponsored Sunday at Fairfield Ludlowe High School by the Junior Women's Club of Fairfield.

Commandeering a parking lot behind the Unquowa Road school were more than a dozen oversized vehicles, ranging from front loaders and a Fun Bus, to tractor-trailer cabs and the Fairfield Police Department's mobile command unit.

Entry fees helped benefit the club's high school scholarship fund.

Joining the trucks were other attractions, including mini go-karts, costumed characters, DJ music, food vendors and exotic animals for petting.

All in all, a truckload of fun.
