FAIRFIELD — The Ailey II Dance Company will be featured at the annual benefit for Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County on Sunday at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts.

Robert A. Jacobs, a Westport resident and chairman of the NSFC board, is the honoree. Funds raised by the event will benefit the program’s summer camps.

Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County is a multi-disciplinary school of the arts founded in 1977 by the late Patricia Hart, a musician who was losing her sight. It now serves more than 1,600 greater Bridgeport young people with after-school programs and summer camps.

“We’re delighted that the Ailey Company II will be performing at our gala right after a successful two-week run in New York City,” Harold Levine of Westport, chairman of the event and chairman emeritus of NSFC, said in a publicity release.

Started in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, Ailey II “embodies Alvin Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training and community programs for all people,” according to event organizers. The troupe has a repertory that has included works by Ailey, Talley Beatty, Donald Byrd, Ulysses Dove, George W. Faison, Lar Lubovitch, Robert Battle, the Alvin Ailey American dance theater artistic director, and Judith Jamison, artistic director emerita.

Robert Jacobs has served on the NSFC board since 2005 and was elected chairman this year. He was a founder of Minuteman newspapers and the Westport Sister Cities Association, and served as a member of the Downtown Planning Committee and the Westport Arts Center board. He practiced architecture as a partner in Belcic & Jacobs in New York City, and has his own practice in Westport.

Tickets for the event range from $40 for students and $75 for general admission, to $150 for preferred seating. VIP seating is $225 and VIP seating and parking is $500. Reception guests at the $225 and $500 ticket levels can attend a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 p.m. General admission and preferred seating starts at 6:30 p.m.
