Railroad buffs of all ages made tracks to the Fairfield Museum and History Center after the town's Christmas tree-lighting ceremony Friday night to delight in the annual Holiday Express Train Show.

Scheduled to run through Dec. 31, the show features a detailed display of model trains winding around holiday scenery and a glittering Christmas tree. It is the fifth of the train show, organized by members of the Fairfield-based Housatonic Model Railroad Club and the Connecticut G-Scalers Club.

Nick Reed, a resident of the Southport section of town, visiting with his daughter Sohana, 3, said he had grown up in Fairfield but that this was their first time coming to both the tree lighting and the train show. "We are starting a wonderful tradition tonight," he said. "This is what Christmas is all about."
