Springing into a new season, the Burr Homestead was the very portrait of seasonal change as the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County decked out the historic mansion for its 21st annual Art Show, Boutique & Cafe for the weekend.
The show, which opened Friday, features original pieces from more than 100 artists and interior design exhibits. A boutique and cafe with a dozen "pop-up" stores with home decor, gift and accessory items for sale will be open Saturday and Sunday.
Melanie Verrengia, the Junior League president, said organizing the showcase was a labor of love.
"When one year's art show ends, we start planning for the next. So, literally, we've been at this for a year, with the bulk of our efforts over the past six months.
"We have a 15-member main committee and then a number of factions across the league that handle specific tasks," she added. "It's a tremendous amount of work for the league, but the energy it brings makes us very excited. And the art show's success is vital to the charity groups we serve in the community."
The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County's annual Art Show continues 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, March 24, at the Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road. Tickets for the show are $7 for adults, and children under 12 are free. For information: 203-259-9995 or www.jlefc.org
