Fairfield Animal Control is asking for the public’s help in finding a dog that bit a jogger Sunday evening.
The victim, a town resident, was jogging on the Old Post Road near Belmont Street around 5 p.m. when a white, red and tan pitbull mix ran up to the man and bit him on the buttocks. The dog’s owner, who was walking four dogs, called the dog off.
The jogger and the dog owner did not exchange any information, and the jogger left the area. He did not report the bite until Monday, after seeking medical treatment for the bite wound. The jogger was told he will need to receive post-exposure rabies vaccinations unless the rabies vaccination status of the dog is determined.
Anyone with information on the identity of the dog owner, or the owner themselves, is asked to call Animal Control at 204-254-4857.
