The exhibition, "A Way with Words," incorporating language through visual expression at Art/Place Gallery, continues on display through April 27. A Meet the Artists reception is planned for Sunday, March 16, from 3 to 5 p.m., and there will be an artists' talk on Thursday, April 17, at noon.

In "A Way with Words," several artists have worked directly with the written word, while others have created works inspired by a poem or meaningful text. Among the works on exhibit is "Inscription Rock," by Grace McEnaney, a watercolor painting portraying text carved on a sandstone monument in New Mexico inscribed with more than 2,000 signatures, messages and petroglyphs from both ancient and recent explorers. "Sacred Scripts 10," a monotype with collage and thread by Diane Pollack, uses handmade stencils depicting ancient Hebrew letters.

Art/Place is at 70 Sanford St., in space shared by the Fairfield Theatre Company. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and during all FTC performances. For more information, visit www.artplace.org or call 203-292-8328.
