Art/Place will hold an exhibit titled "The Space Between" by Westport artists Toby Michaels and Mary Elizabeth Peterson from Thursday, Feb. 28, to Saturday, March 30, at its gallery, 70 Sanford St. An opening reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3.

Their works "explore the vast, mysterious space between sky and sea," according to a news release.

Michaels, who has a masters degree in art therapy, has taught art in Westport, Weston and Darien elementary schools and initiated an art therapy program for Norwalk Hospital's Department of Psychiatry. She later led art therapy groups at Silver Hill Hospital and was an adjunct professor of art therapy at Hamden's Quinnipiac College.

Peterson studied at the Corcoran Collage of Art + Design in Washington, D.C. She teaches art history for Westport Public Schools' ArtSmart program, the release states.

The nonprofit gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and during special performances at the adjacent Fairfield Theatre Co.'s StageOne.
