The Fairfield County Arts Association will host Westport artist Leonard Everett Fisher as a guest speaker 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Roger Ludlowe Middle School, 689 Unquowa Road.

Fisher will show a PowerPoint survey of his paintings and illustrations over a period of 71 years.

Fisher, a World War II veteran and Yale graduate, has illustrated some 260 books for young readers, designed United States postage stamps, executed paintings for the Norwalk Transit District Building and created numerous easel works. His paintings, drawings and illustrations are in collections nationwide including those of the Butler Art Institute, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library, according to the association.

Leonard holds many awards, including Yale's Winchester Fellowship, a Pulitzer painting prize and Italy's Premio Grafico Fiera Internazionale di Bologna, according to the association.

He is a founding member of the Westport-Weston Arts Council, now the Westport Arts Center, past president of the Westport Library Board of Trustees and recipient of Westport's Lifetime Achievement Award for the Visual Arts. He is also dean emeritus of the Paier College of Art and a member of the Low Illustration Committee of the New Britain Museum.
