Balloting started at 6 a.m. today in Fairfield, and across the rest of Connecticut, as voters head to the polls to decide statewide and legislative contests.

There were 36,823 eligible voters in Fairfield as of last week. Of those registered, 10,203 are Democrats, while another 10,725 are registered with the GOP. The majority -- 15,540 -- are unaffiliated voters. There are also 355 local voters registered with minor parties.
