Fairfield Theatre Co. will present a performance by Walter Trout Band at 10 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open at 9:30 p.m.

Walter Trout, a New Jersey-born

blues guitarist known for his work with John Lee Hooker as well as the Bluesbreakers, has played guitar behind Big Mama Thornton, Joe Tex and Canned Heat, according to a company news release.

Trout's career began while filling in one night for an ailing John Mayall, when he was spotted by a Danish concert promoter who agreed to finance a solo tour. With the Radicals, he released seven hit albums in the 1990s and five since 2000.

Trout, who now performs as the Walter Trout Band, continued a steady touring schedule, often touring and recording with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.

Tickets -- $35 in advance, $40 at the door, $5 off for FTC members -- can be purchased at the box office at 203-259-1036 or at www.fairfieldtheatre.org.
