Book fair to benefit Eagle Hill

A day-long book fair to benefit Eagle Hill-Southport is planned Friday, Dec. 7, at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, 1076 Post Road East, Westport.

The school for children with learning disabilities said the bookstore has pledged to donate a percentage of sales to Eagle Hill supporters, as much as 20 percent depending on total sales.

The fair is planned from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will feature a discussion on children's behavior, science demonstrations and a "Polar Express" story time and party.

On arriving at a the store, Eagle Hill supporters will be given stickers to identify themselves to cashiers, the school said.

School psychologist David Sylvestro at 10 a.m. will give the presentation "How Positive Communication Leads to Positive Behavior." The talk will focus on highlighting positive behavior, Eagle Hill said.

Throughout the fair, school staff will be available to help parents find suitable books for independent and oral reading at home, and science teacher Bob Perry will conduct hands-on activities involving magnetism, gravity, color, and air pressure.

The "Polar Express" story time and party begins at 7 p.m.
