Connecticut Challenge will hold a talk by climber and cancer survivor Sean Swarner at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Roger Ludlowe Middle School, 689 Unquowa Road. A reception for cancer survivors will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Swarner, having survived two forms of cancer as a teenager, is the first cancer survivor to climb Mount Everest, according to a news release from Connecticut Challenge. He has also made it to the highest peaks in Africa, Europe, South America, Australia, Antarctica and North America.

Attendance to the event is free, but seating is limited. Advanced registration is required at ctchallenge.org/keepclimbing.
