Firefighters scrambled Tuesday morning to douse a fire that erupted in a car parked in a Church Hill Road driveway.
The fire, reported about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, threatened to fully engulf the vehicle and spread to a nearby garage as firefighters arrived.
Engines 2, 3 and 5, Ladder 2 and Car 3 were dispatched to the scene. The Engine 3 crew stretched a hoseline to begin dousing the flames while Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson, in command at the scene, directed Engine 2 to stand by the nearest hydrant. Ladder 2 firefighters made sure the fire did not spread to the garage.
The fire was extinguished without damage to the garage or house, and fire crews cleared the scene by about 8:45 a.m.
Fire Marshal Bill Kessler discussed the fire with the home's resident, but the incident remains under investigation.
