Fairfield Theatre Co. will host a performance by composer and cellist Ben Sollee at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open 7 p.m.

Sollee, who grew up studying classical music, but admired hip-hop artist Lauryn Hill, will play to support his latest studio release, "Half-Made Man." The new studio album was funded by his fans through a PledgeMusic campaign, which hit its target amount in less than 48 hours, according to a release.

The self-produced work features guitarist Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket and fiddle player Jeremy Kittle of Turtle Island Quartet.
