Prize-winning cellist Cicely Parnas will perform Saturday at the Pequot Library.

The free program, sponsored by Music for Youth, will take place at 2 p.m. in the library, 720 Pequot Ave.

Parnas was the first-prize winner of the 2012 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, according to publicity for the event. She holds the Anne and George Popkin Cello Chair of YCA and was the recipient of YCA's Mortimer Levitt Career Development Award for Women Artists in 2012.

She has performed at 2013 Young Concert Artists Festivals in Tokyo and Beijing

Parnas, who performs on a 1712 Giovanni Grancino cello, started playing the cello at the age of 4 and made her concerto debut at 11 with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, according to the release. She earned an artist diploma from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.

She will perform a 50-minute program suitable for ages 5 to 18. The program will be followed by a master class for advanced student cellists.
