The Fairfield Public Library will host a charity "shower" on Wednesday afternoon, May 21, to benefit The Center for Family Justice, which provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence and child abuse.
The event is planned at 2 p.m. in the Rotary Room of the library's main branch, 1080 Old Post Road. Library officials asked that attendees bring gifts of housewares for use in supportive housing the organization maintains for some of the women and children it serves.
The shower's theme is "There's No Place Like Home," and celebrates this year's 75th anniversary of the MGM film classic "The Wizard of Oz," the library said.
A 40-minute concert of musical arrangements from the movie will be performed by "The Flying Monkeys Quartet" of the Norwalk Symphony, the library said, and an afternoon tea will follow.
The Bridgeport-based Center for Family Justice provides a variety of services and has a satellite office in the Fairfield Senior Center.
