Chess club seeks members

The Fairfield Chess Club is soliciting new members to play chess during its weekly meetings from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace.

The group, founded in 2008, has six to 10 members and is always seeking new participants, according to club member Frank DeStefano. Members do not have to be seniors to join the club, and all levels of players from beginner to advanced are welcome to play. Games supplies are provided.

The club was recently visited by Michael Finneran, four-time state chess champion and recent Fairfield Ludlowe High School graduate who beat six club members in simultaneous play.
