Children's choir to salute Broadway

The Fairfield County Children's Choir will present "Spotlight: Broadway!," its 19th annual Broadway-themed concert, on Saturday, Feb.1. The group of 300 young singers will present favorites from the hit musicals "The Lion King," "Godspell," "The Sound of Music" and "The Secret Garden."

Fairfield teacher Jon Noyes is the choir's artistic director, and Lisa Bettke, Kevin Cotellese, and Ashley Zadravecz will conduct.

The FCCC's performance venues have included Tanglewood and Carnegie Hall, and concert halls in San Francisco, New York, Hawaii, Philadelphia, New Orleans and several European countries. The group has shared the stage with such artists as Renee Fleming, Charles Strouse, Stephen Schwartz and Tom Chapin.

Soloists from Fairfield include: Abi Varsos, Brenna Conroy, Melanie Nelson, Blaise Carter, Bari Lipper, Stephen Kelly, Maddie McDermott, Tara Kotulsky, Laura Carron, Katherine Vitale, Sophia Bramante, Madeleine Tommins, Kelvin Alvarez, Jared Bovine, Sofie Wall, Patrick Agonito, Amanda Violone, Lily Boyd and Aleksandra Suvorova.

In addition to the Broadway concert, at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport, a silent auction to benefit the choir will be conducted before the concert and during intermission. Auction bidding begins at 5:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 7.
