Anam Cara, a Christian Center for Spiritual Life at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, will offer two classes on "Holy Fools in Russian Culture"

from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 3 and 10, in the church, 4670 Congress St.

From the Kievan Saints to contemporary Russia, the classes will look at how the Christian spirituality of acceptance and self-emptying has been a constant theme running throughout Russian history and culture, according to a release.

The first class, to be lecture-based, will provide a foundation for the second class, where students will have the opportunity to study Leo Tolstoy's "Aloysha the Pot" and enjoy the Russian tea experience.

In addition, there will be a Saturday night field trip to Stratford's St. John the Baptist Church for those interested in experiencing an Orthodox Sung Vespers service in English.

The fee is $10 for the first class, $20 for the second. No registration is necessary. Call the church at 203-255-2740 for information.
