A benefit to help Sammy Palik and his family recover from the Monday fire that destroyed their Pequot Avenue pizzeria in Southport Village will be held Saturday, April 26.

The fundraiser, from 9 to 11 a.m., will be in the parking lot of Chase Bank, across the street from Sammy's Southport Pizza & Grill, 295 Pequot Ave.

The event will feature a raffle of more than 50 prizes donated by area businesses, a baked goods sale, activities for children and musical performances. Admission is free.

According to the Rev. Laura Whitmore, of Southport Congregational Church, the benefit was organized without the help of committees or meetings.

Palik, who has operated the pizzeria for 10 years, has said he plans to re-open as soon as possible.
