Arnold Vainauskas, 47, of Whittier Street, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny when the owner of a bicycle he was riding Sunday spotted him on Rowland Road. The bike's owner said he had left the bike outside That's the Spirit Shop on Fairfield Beach Road, where he works, on April 30 when it was stolen.

When he saw Vainauskas on the bike, he stopped him, but Vainauskas said he owned the bike. The bike's real owner took the bicycle and went to police headquarters. Police found Vainauskas walking on Rowland Road and took him into custody. He was released on a promise to appear May 14 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
