Police are investigating the theft of dozens of cardigans from two Post Road stores last week.
Banana Republic, 1499 Post Road, reported that 28 cardigans, priced at $59.50 each, were taken Tuesday from a display table around 1:15 p.m. Suspects as recorded by video surveillance show a light-skinned man, medium build, with short dark hair and short dark facial hair, wearing sunglasses, leaning on a car outside the store while two woman came into the store at separate times, both carrying what appeared to be the same large, blue handbag.
The Loft, also at 1499 Post Road, reported that 34 cardigans, costing $54,50 each, were taken about 5:20 p.m. the same day from a shelf at the front of the store. The tags in the cardigans had alarm chips, according to the report, and the alarm was activated twice that afternoon, but employees confirmed those activations were accidental. A similar theft occurred at the chain's store in Milford.
