UPDATE: According to the state's attorney the case against Carly B. Iwanicki was dismissed.
Witnesses called 911 Sunday afternoon to tell police they saw a man hitting a woman in a car parked at Veterans Park.
When officers arrived, they said they found Carly B. Iwanicki, 20, of Sweet Meadow Road, Newtown, with blood and vomit on her shirt. In the car with her was her boyfriend, Jacob Ball, 18, of Palestine Road, Newtown.
Iwanicki refused to tell officers what happened and declined medical attention, and both told officers there was nothing going on. Ball told officers they'd had a minor argument and that things were tense because Iwanicki was going away to college.
According to the report, the incident erupted when Iwanicki "got in" Ball's face and was pushing him, which is when he punched her in the face with a closed fist. Police indicated that it appeared both had been drinking.
Ball was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace, and held on a $5,000 bond.
Iwanicki was issued a misdemeanor summons for second-degree breach of peace and released at the scene.
Both were scheduled to appear Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
