Joseph Gallace, 50, of Cross Highway, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, and failure to renew his registration Thursday afternoon, when police clocked him doing 60 mph in a 30-mph zone.
Police had staged a speed-enforcement detail on Burr Street at the time. When officers stopped Gallace around 2:15 p.m., there was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and he failed field-sobriety tests, according to the report.
The car was towed and Gallace was released on a $250 bond.
He is scheduled to appear Sept. 22 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
