A Brooklawn Parkway man faces a variety of charges after witnesses called police last Friday to report he was driving recklessly on Fairfield Woods Road.

James B. Davis, 30, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, operating under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and failure to drive right.

Police first got a call around 5 p.m. that a BMW had driven over the curb on Faifield Woods Road and swerved into opposing traffic, nearly hitting a bicyclist. Davis was stopped in the parking lot at Dogwood Green condominiums.

He admitted to having four or five beers and had taken a half of a Xanax, for which he had a prescription, according to the report. Davis’ eyers were glassy and bloodshot and his speech was slurred, police said.

Davis had in his possession a prescription bottle containing three pills that were not Xanax, three straws with a white powder residue, and a small jar that also had a white powder residue, according to the report.

He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was released after posting a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear July 14 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
