Carmen Rosa, 55, of Park Avenue in Bridgeport, drove over a downtown curb and hit two cars early Sunday, police said.
According to witnesses, Rosa's car was parked in a lot at the corner of Miller Street and Carter Henry Drive around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when they heard the engine rev and saw the car jump the curb. His car struck a parked car, then he backed up into the parking lot, sideswiping another car as he tried to exit onto Carter Henry Drive, police said.
Asked by officers if he remembered the crashes, Rosa apparently told them he didn't hit any cars. Police said when Rosa went to get out of his car, he fell back into the driver's seat several times and was unable to perform field sobriety tests.
Rosa was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right. He as released on a promise to appear Sept. 3 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
