Johnnie Newkirk, 38, of Woodlawn Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana Thursday after he was seen walking from the back yard of a Villa Avenue house.
According to the report, an officer spotted Newkirk, who he said then turned and began walking down the middle of Villa Avenue when he saw the police cruiser. Because of a large number of burglaries and car break-ins in the area, the officer stopped Newkirk and questioned him. Newkirk said he had gone into theyard of the home to urinate and admitted he had no business, nor permission, to be on the property, police said.
During a pat down, bags of marijuana and cocaine were found in Newkirk's possession. He was released on a promise to appear Jan 10 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
