Fairfield Firefighter Brian Felner, 29, of 130 Hunter Road, was charged Monday morning with evading responsibility and failure to drive right after police said he drove across several properties on Round Hill Road.
In addition, he damaged 82 feet of shrubs and plantings at Family Dental Group, 320 Kings Highway East and then struck a tree, police said. Parts of Felner's Jeep were found on both roads, police said.
Police received two reports of an errant driver in the vicinity of 1502 Round Hill Road on Monday. An investigation determined he drove over a curb in the vicinity of Barlow Road, lost his front bumper about a mile north on Round Hill Road after striking a tree, damaged 17 feet of grass and 25 feet of a wooden fence at one property, police said, and then drove over another property farther up the road, damaging a shrub.
The vehicle Felner was driving, because of its condition, made gouge marks in the road's surface, police said. Officers followed the trail to Felner's Hunter Road address, where he was interviewed and ultimately charged.
Released on $50 bond, he is scheduled to appear Sept. 12 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
