An infant left alone in a car in front of Village Bagel, 889 Post Road, prompted several "911" calls to police Thursday afternoon.

Helene Lewis, 66, of Kennedy Drive, Bridgeport, was issued a misdemeanor summons for leaving the 9-month-old boy unsupervised in an unlocked car for at least 20 minutes. One caller told police the infant was screaming and crying, while another witness took the child out of the car.

Lewis told police she saw a group of people standing around the car, but didn't think anything of it, and also told police she had forgotten the child -- her great-grandson -- was in the car, according to the report.

Lewis became confused and angry with officers, the report states. The infant's parents, who came to the scene, said Lewis has memory-impairment issues.

Lewis was released on a promise to appear Sept. 13 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
