A Bridgeport man was charged with sixth-degree larceny Wednesday after he allegedly put a fake price bar code on a higher-priced appliance at Kohl's department store on Tunxis Hill Road.

Ernest Henton, 48, of Washington Avenue, and covered up the actual bar code on a Kitchenaid mixer selling for $399 with a code that showed the price as $50, police said.

Henton was held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Feb. 10 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
