After a 30 year-old University Drive man was asked to turn down the music by a relative just after midnight Wednesday, police said he retaliated physically.
Karl Balog, of University Drive, was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and criminal violation of a protective order in connection with the incident. He was held on a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear later Wednesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
According to the report, when Balog's uncle, who has a protective order against the accused, asked him to turn down his music, Balog threw the 59-year-old man on the floor and held him down. The uncle had a scrape on his elbow and scratches on his wrist, police said. When the uncle was able to break free, he ran to a neighbor's house and called police.
Court records indicate that Balog was arrested last June for disorderly conduct and again last July for violation of a protective order.
