Ivan Nava, 23, is facing assault and threatening charges after he vowed to slice his girlfriend's throat and cut up her clothes with a box cutter Monday night, police said.
Nava, who lives on Black Rock Turnpike, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct.
The girlfriend also told police Nava punched her in the back when she walked away from him. He fled the home before police arrived, but came back about 20 minutes later. He allegedly admitted to cutting up her clothes, but denied threatening her, according to the report. A box cutter was found in his pants pocket, police said.
Police said Nava was also driving an unregistered motor vehicle and did not have a driver's license, so was ticketed for motor vehicle charges.
He was held on a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to have appeared Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
