Michael Schouten, 36, faces charges after police said he held his girlfriend down by her neck and threatened to kill her during an argument at their Longview Avenue home Sunday night.

Schouten fled before officers arrived, according to the report. The report notes that the woman had red marks on her neck, and that the couple's 2-year-old daughter was home at the time of the incident.

Police called Schouten on his cell phone, and when he returned, he was taken into custody.

Schouten was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and unlawful restraint. He was held on a $10,000 bond and scheduled to have appeared Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
