A Coral Drive man smashed the windshield on his ex-girlfriend's car Friday night and then chased one of her friends through town in his pickup truck, police said.

Kristian T. Bogacki, 26, went to the Country Road home of his ex-girlfriend around 9 p.m. and smashed the windshield of her car, according to the report. The windshield damage was estimated at $400.

Then, police said, he began chasing a friend who had to come to help the woman with her computer, police said. Bogacki chased the friend's car along local roads and onto Interstate 95 before getting back off the highway at Exit 22, police said. The friend said speeds during the chase at times reached 80 and 100 mph and he feared for his life. Police caught up with Bogacki at Old Post and South Benson roads, and his truck was towed from the scene.

He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Sept. 24 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
