Ricardo Soto made the wrong call when police said he tried to steal a cell phone from Walgreen's, 740 Villa Ave., on Thursday night.

Soto, 31, of Carroll Avenue, Bridgeport, was "walking nervously in circles" inside the store, according to the report. An employee near the photo area heard the sound of plastic breaking and then told police he saw Soto run out the front door with an AT&T Go Phone.

Soto headed on foot toward Nutmeg Bowl and officers found him near Mason Street. Soto said the phone fell out of his pocket while he was running, and it was later found on near Kings Highway East and Villa Avenue.

Soto was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Bond was set at $500 bond and he is scheduled to appear Feb. 4 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
